Pay-As-You-Go hourly consulting ($100/hr)
Intended for projects where the course of action is not well defined, therefore giving us the flexibility to spend more or less time on the different aspects of developing and managing your campaign. This service is offered to clients who want to take an active roll in the development or management of their campaign.

Examples of how consulting services are used include:

  • The novice internet advertiser who wants to take a cautious approach to PPC and have someone hold their hand as they go.
  • The experienced PPC advertiser who has an established campaign and wants to get a sense of how well they are doing. They know the campaign can be improved. They just don't know how much.
  • Web site enhancement or how to make your web site achieve its full potential when it comes to search engine marketing. Not the actual web site development, but providing guidance and oversight to you and your web developer.
  • Improving CTR (Click Through Rates) performance
  • Improving coversion rates
  • And yes, teaching you the art and science of Google AdWords, if that is how you want to spend the time.

The Pay-As-You-Go model is built on a Win-Win philosophy. The client wins because it reduces the cost to determine if, or how much a PPC campaign will help their business. There is no big up-front expense or long-term commitment. They can quit at any time. I win because it allows me to be fairly compensated as the process unfolds and I'm given an opportunity to develop a long-term client. If it evolves into a successful campaign, then we both win.

Consulting services are purchased in blocks of five - ten hours and paid in advance using PayPal.

What you can expect?

When you choose this method, you are entering a process that begins with:

  • An assessment of your market from a PPC perspective

  • Competitive research: Who are your competitors? What is their PPC strategy? What keywords are they bidding on?

  • An assessment of your web site. How suitable is it for the PPC market?

  • Preliminary keyword research. What are your "core" keywords?

  • The honest opinion of a professional as to what you can expect, given the current condition of your web site.

What you should understand?

  • Our goal is to produce a campaign that generates as much qualified traffic as possible with a focus on producing a  positive ROI. You should be willing to focus on that goal and not on the tactics of building and managing the campaign. That is my job.

  • Be prepared for the possibility that my greatest value to you may be measured, not by how much money the campaign makes for you, but how much time and money you save by hiring me. You see, PPC will not work for every product, every business or every business owner. Some business owners have spent many long hours and  thousands of dollars with very little to show for it because they are unwilling or unable to make the necessary changes. If I can save you from that experience, then you will have received good value from my consulting services.

  • This is a collaborative approach and you can expect to be involved in the process. This ultimately saves you money and gives you a better understanding for what is involved.

  • Do not expect that you will have a completed campaign at the end of five or ten hours hours.

  • Many naive advertisers / business owners say "I am willing to spend money on click charges and your services if it generates enough new business". Well, that's like saying "I'm willing to buy a ten dollar bill if I can get it for five dollars!" Who wouldn't? It's not that simple and the process does not work that way.

  • There is no long term commitment, you can stop at any time. Any unused consulting fees will be refunded without question.

  • Having a successful PPC campaign is an iterative process and not a couple of tasks.

  • Receiving short-term consulting from a professional is like getting help navigating a few turns in a maze. Once you are on your own again, the next turn can send you down a dead end.

  • This is a collaborative approach and you can expect to be involved in the process. Any time I spend working on your project, whether it is adjusting bid prices, analyzing reports, sending emails or talking on the phone, it is all billable time. You should think of me as a part-time member of your sales and marketing team that you pay by the hour.
